AFASA Women’s Desk

During the Women in Agriculture presentation held on 11 July 2025, the AFASA Women’s Desk highlighted the critical need for end-to-end support for women farmers in the Eastern Cape. The presentation underscored systemic challenges such as limited access to land, infrastructure, inputs, and markets. Key interventions proposed included training, mentorship, financial management support, mechanisation, and market access facilitation through strategic partnerships. Flagship projects such as the 23-Series Vegetable and Poultry Programme, Goat Farming Development, and the Moringa and Turmeric initiative were showcased as practical pathways to empower over 1,000 women, enhance food security, and drive inclusive rural economic development in the province.
