MEDIA BRIEFING: BUILD UP TO AFASA ELECTIVE CONFERENCE
The African Farmers Association of South Africa (AFASA) will hold its 2022 National Elective Annual General Meeting and 10th-year celebration, under the theme “Collaborating and Rebuilding to Strengthen The Collective African Farmer’s Voice” on 16th – 18th October 2022 at Durban ICC, KwaZulu Natal. AFASA is the umbrella body for the majority of black and diverse farmers and farming communities in South Africa. In celebration of AFASA’s 10th anniversary, the conference is devoted primarily to reaffirming and building upon the past decade. This three-day event will cover both the AGM and the celebration of the 10th anniversary. The conference will be attended by 600 delegates across all nine provinces of this country, amongst confirmed speakers that will be attending this conference includes Minister Thoko Didiza, Nkosazana Dlamini-Zuma, Senzo Mchunu and Bheki Cele.
AFASA will also announce its vision 2030 in order to ensure the sustainability of all farmers during these challenging economic times. In accordance with the recently signed AAMP, the plan focuses on strengthening AFASA constituencies in the areas critical to commercialization for farmers. Additionally, AFASA will launch its book titled “10 Years of AFASA’s Existence” at the event. This book will highlight AFASA’s work to develop farmers with its partners since its inception in 2011.
