The African Farmers’ Association of South Africa (AFASA) participated in the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Land Reform and Agriculture’s Community Outreach Engagement in the Western Cape on 04 September 2025. Speaking on behalf of AFASA President, Mr AJ Mthembu, and the association reaffirmed its commitment to supporting land reform beneficiaries through mentorship, training, market access, and advocacy. AFASA highlighted the importance of empowering women and youth, aligning legislation with transformation goals, and addressing challenges such as post-settlement support, access to finance, and infrastructure.

The engagement was attended by Deputy President Paul Mashatile, who chairs the committee and Minister of Land Reform and Rural Development Mzwanele Nyhontso. AFASA emphasised its readiness to work with the government, private sector, and communities to ensure land reform leads not only to access, but also to sustainable success.
